For sale is this opulent high-back lounge 'throne' chair...now newly-upholstered in luxurious white *fur* worthy of any prominent king/queen, Bond villain or evil genius! Attributed to Karpen of California, this one is simply fabulous from any angle with design elements reminiscent of Adrian Pearsall, Lawrence Peabody or Arthur Umanoff. In short, it would look incredible in any space or ivory tower!
OVERVIEW: Notice the impressive height/scale of this one, along with the overall design and stunning solid walnut frame. I love how the walnut supports wraparound the back in one continuous form...almost like its hugging/supporting you! I did manage to save/attach the "W & J Sloane, Inc" tag on the underside, quick research into W&J Sloane notes it as a prominent furniture store in New York City that catered to the wealthy and prominent families of the era...that provenance certainly seems fitting of this beauty.
UPHOLSTERY: The entire chair has just been professionally redone with a high-density foam interior and lumbar/accent pillow in brand-new, luxuriously-textured ivory "fur" poly-blend fabric throughout that resembles the texture of a nubby boucle, fur or sheepskin called Kravet Basic. Its a classic and natural-looking yet organic choice of the highest quality fabric that's just as comfortably soft to sit in as it is beautiful (always an important aspect). The official fabric details/info: Kravet Basic 35310-1 (100,000+ abrasion durability, polyester knit backing) if you'd like research more yourself). Colorway is a white/off-white, I took photos in both an indoor/outdoor setting to give you an idea of its color and textured "feel" along with removing the lumbar pillow giving it an extra sleek profile.
WALNUT FRAME: The walnut frame has just been refinished and given a new protective lacquer coating to protect it for lifetime of usage while also giving a lovely satin sheen. As to be expected with any vintage piece of furniture, there are a few subtle imperfections here-and-there that I have already addressed/blended, and only noticeable upon extremely close inspection but nothing that detracts the eye (in my opinion). Overall, it presents beautifully.
STURDINESS: This chair is quite comfortable and sturdy too. In fact, this is one of the only chairs I'd allow my Dad to sit in when he visits (he's 6'6" and 280lbs)...vintage MCM chairs are normally a bit more delicate but this one is quite sturdy and strong.
DIMENSIONS: 51" high x 29" wide x 31" deep ; 18.5" seat height
