For sale is a set of six beautiful and hard-to-find "Ingrid" dining chairs designed by Niels Koefoed for Koefoeds Hornslet. Circa 1960s Denmark and crafted in solid teak, these chairs are a classic example of refined Danish Modern design — sculptural, elegant, unique and exceptionally well made. And these are the first-ever set I've had the privilege to restore in my 12+ years of furniture restoration so they're as rare as they are beautiful.
OVERVIEW: Niels Koefoed was a master of chair design, producing some of Denmark’s most recognizable dining chairs during the mid-20th century. Compared to his more commonly seen Eva chairs, the Ingrid model is notably rarer, making this an excellent opportunity for collectors and design enthusiasts alike...they represent everything Danish Modern is known for: honest materials, thoughtful proportions and timeless beauty. The Ingrid model is known for its graceful, organic lines, gently curved backrests and beautifully tapered legs. Each chair feels light and airy while remaining solid and comfortable, showcasing the expert craftsmanship Koefoeds Hornslet was celebrated for. The warm teak grain adds depth and character, making this set equally striking around a mid-century table or in a more modern interior, as well.
UPHOLSTERY: All have been professionally-upholstered - including new foam underneath - in a lovely "heather gray" 100 percent wool called: "Maharam Divina MD: Smoke" (45,000+ martindale) that goes exquisitely with the teak chair frames. So, if you're looking to exude a comfortable and fantastic midcentury vibe in your dining space for the next 30+ years, these chairs are for you.
CONDITION: As with all vintage furniture, there are small signs of wear/patina throughout that I've addressed but these chairs present beautifully. The frames have been meticulously restored/reconditioned so they now exude deep-and-rich teak coloring and wonderful overall sheen, and certain to help make your dining situation become the showcase of your dining area. Overall, they present beautifully (and would look stellar with one of the teak dining tables I'm offering for sale).
DIMENSIONS: 38.5" high x 18.5" wide x 15.5" deep; seat-to-floor height 17.5"
