For sale is this exceptional round-to-oval Danish teak dining table by Kofod Larsen beautifully paired with six Hans Wegner CH23 dining chairs w/paperchord seats. Circa 1960s, I've restored many mid-century Scandinavian teak dining sets over the years and this pairing is the epitome of exceptional design and attention to detail...it's absolutely gorgeous and would be a beautiful table situation for your family/guests to gather around the next 30+ years - so good it nearly jumps out of these photos and into your dining room it's so stellar!
OVERVIEW: Circa 1960s by Kofod Larsen, this round-to-oval teak dining table is of the utmost quality and in pristine condition after being recently restored. It now exudes that wonderful warm, old-growth teak glow and has just been refinished so it now exudes a beautiful satin sheen throughout. Closely inspect the pictures and you'll also notice the beautiful tabletop wood graining all the way from one end to the other...they certainly don't make furniture of this quality anymore and a great table for your family to gather around for the next 30+ years! And checkout that thick table apron around the sides, and how it flares as it meets the legs...danish quality and proud craftsmanship!
TABLE DIMENSIONS: 47" diameter in the round, then extends to 86.5" long with the two 19.75" leaves inserted - enough for 6-8 people. Normal table height, 28.5" high; retains the Danish Control label underneath table. All leaves include a matching table apron with the main table for continuity, and tripod (or kickstand) drops down when then table open, to prevent any sag in the middle when extended. It also comes with a custom-fit protective pad.
TABLE CONDITION: I've restored numerous teak pieces over the years and this one is hands-down one of the most exquisite and highest quality craftsmanship, deep-and-dark old-growth teak coloring and overall condition. It's just been restored/reconditioned in so it now exudes a beautiful satin sheen with that lovely warm teak glow to showcase the beautiful old-growth teak woodgrain throughout. As with all vintage furniture, there are some minor blemishes; but overall, its stunning and presents beautifully.
TABLE DIMENSIONS: 47" round, two 19.75" leaves. Normal dining table height of 28.5"
CHAIRS: Six Hans Wegner CH23 dining chairs, these have been in my personal collection for many years as I have slowly accumulated these Danish rarities and personally enjoyed how each one is a tad different yet same overall with slightly differing teak backrest woodgraining and golden oak frames. When you restore mid-century furniture as long as I have, taking your time to curate and resurrect a set of epic chairs is a fun and rewarding project. These all feature new hand-woven papercord seats, thus completely resetting them to last another sixty years of elegant dining within your living space.
CHAIRS OVERVIEW: Widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of Danish modernism, Hans J. Wegner’s deep understanding of wood and his commitment to quality craftsmanship led him to create timeless, functional pieces that captured the world's attention. Wegner's legacy is defined by his ability to unite fine craftsmanship with ideal form, creating designs for everyday use that have become iconic - just like these stellar dining chairs.
The CH23 dining chair is a prime example of Wegner's genius as it was one of the first chairs he designed for Carl Hansen & Son in 1950, setting new standards for modern furniture. At first glance, the chair's simple, organic contours appear understated but a closer look reveals a host of sophisticated details that showcase Wegner's skill including superior craftsmanship such as the cruciform cover caps on the backrests, rear legs that are subtly arched to maximize stability while maintaining a graceful form and the intricate, double-woven papercord seat adding both texture and comfort. The warm teak wood and natural papercord create a harmonious connection with nature, bringing a sense of calm and elegance to your space.
Owning a set of Wegner chairs is more than just acquiring furniture; it's investing in a piece of design history for many generations. Their artistic expression and ergonomic form make them as relevant and appealing today as they were over seventy years ago.
CHAIRS CONDITION: These lovelies have been meticulously restored to enhance the beautiful wood grain, while the new papercord seats ensure years of comfortable and durable use. This level of restoration preserves the chairs' historical integrity while preparing them for modern-day usage without issue. As with all vintage furniture, there are minor blemishes that I have addressed/blended. Overall, they present beautifully though and I hope someone will enjoy them as much as we have!
CHAIRS DIMENSIONS: 18.5" wide x 18.5" deep x 30" high ; seat height - 16.5"
