For sale is this exquisite Platner brushed nickel and glass dining table, designed by renowned American architect and mid-century designer Warren Platner for Knoll - it is a true icon of modern furniture design. More than just a dining table, it's a statement of style and history, ready to enhance any home with its enduring beauty.
OVERVIEW: Circa 1970s, the distinctive base is crafted from meticulously-welded metal rods, creating an elegant and balanced look that adds a sense of foundation yet lightness to any space. This timeless design stands as a testament to Platner's attention to detail - with precision welds amidst the intricately splayed rods, a process that was both tedious and time-consuming requiring as many as 1,000 welds per piece to create...reflecting the artistry and precision of the visually delightful creation. Furthermore, this exquisite piece features a tempered glass tabletop thus lending itself to a wide array of interior styles with its clean lines and organic essence - and would look just as stellar with vintage chairs as shown, or something more modern too.
CONDITION: It is in wonderful condition with just a bit of vintage patina on the brushed nickel and no breaks/bends to the sturdy metal rod base. The glass tabletop is free from cracks/chips but does have a few faint scuff marks after fifty years of usage - not noticeable but I mention it for full transparency. Overall, its stunning and presents beautifully...brushed nickel base offers a warmer/softer take on the polished chrome finish which is nice too.
DIMENSIONS: 54" diameter x 27.5" high - four chairs seamlessly slide under the glass tabletop but could accommodate six too.
