Of the many Eames chairs I've restored over the years, this one may be the finest example...for sale is this Eames lounge chair and ottoman by Herman Miller (model 670/671) in classic black leather and Brazilian Rosewood. Introduced in 1956 and still in production today, its stylish and comfortable too. Keen attention was paid to every detail of its restoration so its now in absolutely gorgeous condition, certain to be the focal point of your living space.

OVERVIEW: This Eames lounger (labels dated December 1977) features Brazilian Rosewood shells (all matched/stamped #14) with original black leather cushions in superb condition. The usage of Brazilian Rosewood was banned in the early 1990s, making rosewood models more rare and highly sought-after as they're no longer being produced...and the dark-and-rich rosewood shells are what sets this chair apart, the unique woodgraining pattern across the back panels is simply gorgeous. This one is so stellar its not just a chair...its part work of art...part livable investment...part functional furniture ready to enjoy while lounging/viewing for the next 30+ years, then pass onto the next generation for their enjoyment.

CONDITION: The entire chair has just been meticulously gone over, with the rosewood shells being reoiled/conditioned to exude their lustrous sheen and aluminum bases/accents polished to shine brightly once again. All metal sliders (i.e. Domes of Silence) are in-tact and base pedestal bushings are sturdy/solid (ie. no wobbles).

LEATHER, SHOCKMOUNTS and SHELLS: The black leather cushions are in excellent and original condition, with just a minor amount of "lived-in" patina/wear. Shockmounts are original and very solid (a very common frailty of older Eames chairs), I'm 6'3" 225lbs and the chair has been very solid during my quality-control lounging sessions watching old western movies! Little UV-light exposure explains why the rosewood shells still retain their deep luster and rich coloring - see photos, the rosewood woodgrain and coloration is superb.

RESTORATION HIGHLIGHTS AND BACKGROUND STORY: This particular chair was purchased directly from the original owner who was an officer in the US Navy; he bought it new but it mostly sat in his dark basement during his submarine deployments...his name is neatly marked on the inside of the bottom backrest (R.W. Mayo). This provenance neither hurts/helps the chair but I mention it as its a fun story to share with your chair admirers.

DIMENSIONS: 35" high x 31" wide x 32" deep ; seat height is 15" from floor.
