For sale is a round-to-oval expandable mid-century rosewood dining table with two expansion leaves, now in majestic condition after just undergoing restoration. Circa 1960s and designed by John Mortensen for Heltborg Møbler, normally Danish dining tables are made of teak so this is indeed unique being its made of rosewood so its both quite stunning and unique. The usage of Brazilian Rosewood was banned in the early 1990s, making rosewood furniture in-general more rare and highly sought-after as they're no longer being produced...its absolutely beautiful after just undergoing restoration.
And this is not your average dining table...rather part functional furniture and part work of art. Circa 1960s, this is one of the nicest I've ever completed...the rich-and-dark rosewood is absolutely gorgeous and would be a beautiful table for your family/guests to gather around for the next 30+ years, then pass along to the next generation for their enjoyment too.
SIZE/DIMENSIONS: The scale of this dining table would be best suited for larger-sized dining spaces as the table is both wider and extends longer than normal. It is 74.5" x 48.25" at is smallest, then extends to a whopping 114" when fully extended - that's enough for 10-12 people! Two 19.75" extension leaves can easily be inserted for additional length when you need.
CONDITION: I've restored numerous rosewood pieces over the years and this one is one of the most exquisite and highest quality craftsmanship, deep-and-dark old-growth rosewood coloring and overall condition. Its just been lovingly restored/reconditioned in so it now exudes a beautiful sheen with that lovely warm rosewood glow to showcase the beautiful wood-grain throughout. As with all vintage furniture, there are small signs of wear/patina throughout that I've addressed - most notably, one leaf has a dime-shaped darker spot where a previous owner drilled a hole...it has been properly plugged, colored and sealed so its less noticeable but I mention it for transparency. Overall, it presents beautifully.
