For sale is a beautiful and fully-restored 96" long Florence Knoll Table Desk in Teak, circa 1960s.
OVERVEW: Introduced in 1961, the Knoll 2480 Table Desk exudes executive quality and epitomizes Mies van der Rohe’s impact on Florence’s approach to design. Each detail was endlessly refined to achieve simple, seemingly effortless beauty...and despite being conceived for the office, this desk has found itself repurposed into an elegant dining table throughout many dining rooms over the last sixty years. The design is so timeless, Knoll reintroduced it a few years back but in less vibrant/elegant wood species (oak, mahogany) retailing north of $11k. Teak versions of this are no longer available, making this one quite rare and highly prized by Knoll aficionados.
HISTORY and BACKGROUND: Retaining its original label with the 320 Park Ave address, Knoll Associates became Knoll International in 1969 and moved to 745 Fifth Ave in 1970…dating this desk/table to sometime in the 1960s. Additionally, this stunning piece came from the office of a Seattle-area executive who bought it brand new, until I acquired and lovingly restored it back to its full glory.
CONDITION: Keen attention was paid to every detail of this exquisite piece during restoration; you'll be hard-pressed to find another first generation teak beauty like this anywhere - especially one in such exquisite condition. The top has just been professionally restored and finished with a protective coating for both protection against general usage and sun fading so it'll last another 60+ years with its lovely old-growth teak luster fully in-tact.
Slightly tapered with a knife-edge around the perimeter, the piece is supported by the chrome-plated, X-shaped pedestal base signature to Knoll pieces. The chrome has been polished but does has some minor scuffs throughout, only noticeable upon extremely close inspection. Overall, this piece presents beautifully and you'll be proud to own it.
DIMENSIONS: 96" long x 54" wide x 28" high
SHIPPING: As the weight of this piece is quite heavy (approx. 200lbs), so I've already checked with my shipping company and they suggest it ship as two pieces then reattached upon delivery...attaching the top/base actually isn't too difficult (just need a simple screwdriver) and I'll label everything for you so it goes easily. I'd estimate shipping via my people will be around $400-$700 anywhere within the lower-48, but please contact me with your zipcode for an exact quote. I sell and ship much mid-century modern furniture nationwide from my home showroom in Seattle so I'll coordinate all shipping logistics on my end if you'd like...my shipping company specializes in furniture transportation and individually wrap/unwrap each piece for the utmost protection.
